My dad kept speakers in the shed
With little rust along the mesh
He used to play the garden loud
Before we all grew up and out
I found the cables coiled in twine
And called my brothers home by five
Back garden frequency
Tune the evening back to me
Same old fence, a different year
Turn it up, we're all still here
We brought the children and the food
He said the neighbors wouldn't mind
They leaned across the fence and smiled
Then brought their chairs around the side
Back garden frequency
Tune the evening back to me
Same old fence, a different year
Turn it up, we're all still here
He let my daughter pick the next
She showed him where to find the track
He danced a step I'd never seen
She tried it twice and made him laugh
Back garden frequency
Tune the evening back to me
Same old fence, a different year
Turn it up, we're all still here
We coiled the cables when it rained
And promised not to wait again
